Maui Golf
Maui's reputation as one of the world's premier golfing
destinations is well-deserved. Its links provide stunning views and
exciting challenges. From Kapalua to Makena, a string great resorts
have at least two courses each, which are open to the public. In
addition, there are a few fine country club and municipal courses
around the island.
Along West Maui's "Golf Coast," from Kapalua to Ka'anapali are five
championship courses, three at Kapalua Golf Club and two at the Royal
Ka'anapali Golf Courses. Kapalua's three 18-holers include the Village
Course and the Bay Course, both designed by Arnold Palmer, and the
Plantation Course, designed by Ben Crenshaw. The Kapalua International
and other televised tournaments are played here.
Of Ka'anapali's two courses, the North Course was designed by
Robert Trent Jones, Sr., and the South Course by Arthur Jack Snyder.
Maui's South Side offers five additional world-class resort
courses. Wailea Golf Club has three courses: the Blue Course, with its
wide fairways, was designed by Arthur Jack Snyder; the Orange Course
is also a Snyder design; and the Emerald Course is a Robert Trent
Jones, Jr. course that Golf magazine ranked as one of the nation's Top
Ten New Courses in 1995.
Next door, at the new Makena Golf Course, are two 18-hole courses
also designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. They offering challenging
play and the spectacular views.
Maui's other courses include the Silversword Golf Course in Kihei,
the Upcountry Pukalani Country Club Golf Course, and the Sandalwood
Country Club and the Waiehu Municipal Golf Course both in Wailuku.
